(たけみ あうと)

かつてヨーロッパのとある観光地を訪れたとき、その町にはかなりの数の教会があることに気がついた。不規則に折れる細い路地を曲がるたびに、次から次と現れてくる。急ぐ旅でもなかったので、そのひとつひとつ、すべてに入ってみようと考えた。ぼくはクリスチャンではないし、それまでずっと神の存在すら否定的な立場で生きてきたのだが、なぜかそのとき建物の中に入るたびに、身体の中心に上から下まで通っている細い芯のようなものが、頭のてっぺんから天井の方に向かってスーッと抜け出していくような、そんな不思議な感覚を覚えたのだった。その日以来、ぼくの教会流浪の旅は続いている。 　　「楽園のハレプレ」（中央公論新社）より

プロフィール

慶応義塾大学文学部哲学科美学美術史専攻卒業。総合出版社にて月刊誌編集長、アメリカ支社長を歴任。退社後、ニューヨーク州ロングアイランドに居を移し編集者として活動。帰国後、米系エンターテインメント企業で出版ライセンス業務に携わる。これまでヨーロッパ、アメリカを中心に1,000堂以上の教会を撮影。

Out Takemi

Once when I visited a certain tourist town in Europe, I noticed that there were quite a few churches in that town. One after another appeared at every turn of the narrow, irregularly winding alleys. Since I was not in a hurry, I decided to enter each and every one of them. I am not a Christian, and I had always denied the existence of God, but for some reason, whenever I entered them, I felt a strange sensation as if a thin wick that ran from top to bottom through the center of my body was smoothly slipping out from the top of my head toward the ceiling. Since that day, my wandering journey to the church continues.

Profile

Graduated from Keio University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Philosophy, Department of Aesthetics and Art History. Worked at a general publishing company as an editor-in-chief of a monthly magazine and as a branch manager of the U.S. office. After resigned from the company, moved to Long Island, New York and worked as an editor. After returning to Japan, worked for an American entertainment company in the publishing and licensing business. Has photographed more than 1,000 churches in Europe and the United States.
